How did Watanabe Floral get started?
We just celebrated our 65th anniversary this year. In 1945, Ernest Watanabe began with just a small farm in Kahala. Our company also grew and harvested roses for the first 63 years of the business, and just recently we began to outsource roses. It is a very family-oriented business, now under the direction of Russell Watanabe. And due to our strong family traditions, we are closed EVERY Sunday, even on holidays like Mother's Day!
Where do you get your inventory of flowers from?
We source our flowers from every continent except Antarctica. Our shipments come in twice a day; in the early morning and evening, that way our flowers always stay fresh. If there is a certain flower that someone wants, we can find a vendor somewhere in the world that will send it to us. We also get a lot of the tropical flowers from the outer-island.
What is your favorite flower?
Gardenias... I just love how they smell and they are always so elegant!
What makes Watanabe Floral so unique as a florist?
Because we have such a large showroom, I can show brides the various flowers and leis that we have on-hand, so that they leave with a clear visual picture and a better idea of what each flower is and how it will look with their overall wedding theme.
What's one thing you want brides to know about Watanabe Floral?
We're the largest floral operation in the state and we have been voted Hawaii's BEST Florist every year since the award began in 2003!
Do you offer any TWC exclusive discounts or specials?
We sure do! Mention you're a TWC bride and we'll take 20% off your entire purchase. (Cannot be combined with any other promotion, discount or gift card). We love TWC brides!
